Do you know what the 6 key elements of mental health are? It's time to find out!

Having good mental health is essential for overall well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and behave daily. Here are the six key elements of mental health:

  • Emotional well-being

  • Cognitive function

  • Self-Awareness

  • Social Connections

  • Purpose and Meaning

  • Resilience

💊 How To Take Your Dose:

Take a moment to assess your mental health using the six key elements: emotional well-being, cognitive function, self-awareness, social connections, purpose and meaning, and resilience. Identify the one element that you have neglected the most and make a plan to address it this week. It could be as simple as reaching out to a friend for a chat, practicing mindfulness for 10 minutes a day, or setting aside time to pursue a hobby that brings you joy. Keep track of your progress and see how much you've improved by the end of the week! Need more ideas? It's time to get that check-up and be proactive about your health.

Taking care of our physical health is crucial for overall wellness. Regular check-ups and preventative care can help detect and prevent health issues before they become more serious. Some tips include:

Schedule regular appointments with your healthcare provider for check-ups, screenings, and vaccinations.

Stick to a healthy diet and healthy habits, exercise regularly, get enough sleep, and manage stress.

Be proactive in monitoring your health, such as regularly checking your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar.

Avoid unhealthy habits like smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, etc.

Seek medical attention promptly if you notice any concerning symptoms or changes in your health.

💊 How To Take Your Dose:

Choose one of the tips above to prioritize this week, and make a specific plan to follow through on it. For example, you might schedule a check-up with your healthcare provider, plan to exercise for 30 minutes a day, or swap unhealthy snacks for healthier options. Keep track of your progress and how you feel throughout the week, and take note of any positive changes you notice.

Investing is a big component of financial well-being.

Managing our finances is an important aspect of our overall well-being. Understanding investment strategies and options can help us make informed decisions about our money. Here are some tips:

Educate yourself about different investment options, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate, and retirement accounts.

Look at the risks and your financial goals and risk tolerance.

Seek advice from a qualified financial professional.

Diversify your investments to spread risk and maximize potential returns.

Stay informed about market trends, economic news, and regulation changes that may affect your investments.

💊 How To Take Your Dose:

Choose one of the investment tips above to focus on this week, and make a specific plan to learn more about it. For example, you might set aside 30 minutes a day to read articles or watch videos about different investment options, or schedule a meeting with a qualified financial professional to discuss your goals and risk tolerance. Keep track of what you learn and any questions you have, and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

Everyone handles grief differently, especially in relationships.

Supporting grieving loved ones can be challenging, but it's essential to maintaining healthy relationships. Some tips include:

Listen actively and offer empathy without judgment when someone is grieving.

Stay present and provide emotional support, such as offering a shoulder to cry on or a lending ear.

Respect their feelings and emotions, and avoid dismissing or minimizing their grief.

Grieving individuals may find it difficult to handle day-to-day tasks, so offering practical support can be valuable. This can include preparing meals, running errands, helping with household chores, or offering transportation.

💊 How To Take Your Dose:

Choose one of the tips above to focus on this week, and make a specific plan to put it into action. For example, you might reach out to a friend who has recently experienced a loss and offer to listen and provide emotional support, or offer to run an errand or prepare a meal to ease their burden. Keep track of what you do and any positive changes you notice in your loved one's well-being. Remember, taking care of yourself is also essential, so make sure to seek support if you need it. Your care and compassion can make a world of difference to those who are hurting.

From Anxiety to Empowerment: How Natalie Found Herself During Her Journey to Holistic Health

"It was about 5 years ago when I started to experience anxiety, mostly at night when I would lay my head down and try to fall asleep, and I was crying over almost everything (or at least it seemed that way). This type of mental state was far from what I was used to, but one that I was a bit too familiar with since I have a family history of mental health disorders.

I was confused why I was feeling these bouts of depression and anxiety when I was really happy with my job, my relationships, and much more! It just didn’t add up…

So I went to see my doctor and was essentially told everything was fine and that I didn’t need to change anything, which I knew was NOT the answer I was looking for or hoping for. It was then that I decided to take things into my own hands and look deeper into my health and wellness.

While I was a lifelong athlete, I was already training regularly, getting my walks in, practicing meditation or gratitude journaling each day, eating pretty well, and so on! I was doing a lot right, but clearly, I needed more support to get to the root cause so I could start showing up as my best self.

I made the decision to invest in a more holistic approach and had all of my hormones tested. I also started going to see a therapist every other week to talk through some of what I was feeling. Those were the best decisions I could have made as they both helped me start to “look under the hood” and implement certain diet and lifestyle changes that could start to optimize my hormone levels.

My desire to improve my overall mental, physical, and spiritual well-being ultimately led me to my true passion, which is helping others do the same! I have taken many courses and am currently enrolled in the Integrative Health Practitioner course (Levels 1 &2) so that I can actually read over functional medicine lab work and give proper protocols to my clients to help them truly heal from the inside out in a sustainable way!"
