Focus. You’ve Got This!

Sharp memory and strong concentration skills are essential for personal and professional success. Implementing a few strategies can significantly enhance your cognitive abilities and overall mental performance:

Try these strategies: Stay organized, get enough sleep, commit to a daily movement practice, limit screen time, try the pomodoro method, break tasks into smaller steps, and practice mindfulness.

💊 How To Take Your Dose:

Select one tip from the list above this week and commit to incorporating it into your daily routine. Monitor your progress and notice any improvements in your memory and concentration. Consider adding more strategies over time to enhance your cognitive abilities further.

Don’t Forget To Protect Your Skin!

Protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays is crucial for maintaining healthy skin and reducing the risk of skin cancer. Adopting these few simple habits allows you to enjoy outdoor activities while protecting your skin safely.

Use broad-spectrum sunscreen

Wear protective clothing

Seek shade

Reapply sunscreen

Visit a dermatologist

💊 How To Take Your Dose:

This week, purchase a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and commit to applying it daily before heading outdoors. Also, self-examine your skin and note any changes or concerns to discuss with a dermatologist during your next visit.

Talk That Talk and Get What You Deserve

Negotiation skills can help you save money and secure better deals on purchases, services, and contracts. You can become a more confident and effective negotiator by practicing these simple techniques:

To be a skilled negotiator, preparation is key - understand your position and anticipate the other party's needs.

Listen actively to comprehend their perspective and communicate your own clearly and concisely.

Exhibit assertiveness, emotional intelligence, and patience, while building rapport and remaining flexible.

Always approach negotiation as a problem-solving exercise aimed at a mutually beneficial outcome, and confirm agreements in writing to avoid future disputes.

💊 How To Take Your Dose:

This week, identify an upcoming purchase or negotiation opportunity. Research the product, service, or industry and determine your ideal price or terms. Practice your negotiation skills by role-playing the conversation with a friend or family member to build confidence.

Tap Into Your Empathetic Side

Cultivating empathy and understanding in your relationships can lead to deeper connections, better communication, and increased emotional well-being for all parties involved.

Tips and strategies: listen actively, validate feelings, put yourself in their shoes, ask open-ended questions, be supportive, and practice self-awareness.

💊 How To Take Your Dose:

This week, choose one conversation with a friend or family member to practice active listening and empathy. Focus on validating their feelings and asking open-ended questions to understand their perspective better. Reflect on the experience and note any changes in the quality of the conversation or the connection with the other person.

Jesse Katches: From Hobby to Healing - A Content Creator’s Personal Journey into Mental Health Advocacy

“Growing up I loved creating short films with my family and friends, it was such a blast. I didn’t initially pursue it as a career because it just felt like a fun hobby, but as I found myself working other jobs I didn’t enjoy, I eventually took a step back and asked myself, “why don’t I do what I really love?” So I started pursuing filmmaking/video creation from that point on and that led me to creating content on social media. I focused specifically on mental health and human behavior because I’ve experienced quite a few mental health struggles in my own life, mostly in the form of anxiety and different OCD tendencies, so I knew these were topics that I wanted to address and try to lend support to others in with my own content.

In the past, when I was struggling the most, I would have really benefited from seeing the type of videos that I make today because at that time I thought I was alone, I felt isolated, and I didn’t know what to do to try to feel better. So I create my videos today knowing that there are others out there who feel the same way as my younger self and hopefully my videos lend some tools and insights to help them progress.

For me personally, one of the most difficult things to grasp, especially when speaking about anxiety, was the counterintuitive nature of progress. I used to believe that feeling anxiety was bad and harmful. Which makes sense, because it often comes in the form of scary thoughts or sensations and it can be really painful. But in my experience, I’ve learned that progress comes from allowing yourself to feel those sensations and actually running towards them rather than away from them.

When you build a habit of feeling anxiety and moving forward anyways and exposing yourself little by little to these fears, eventually you build up this track record of small victories that you can look back on and really celebrate, and that's huge. Because in most cases I don’t believe anxiety is this one big thing that needs to be “healed” and when you do you’ll feel better forever, rather, I believe you’ll start to feel better and build confidence when you consistently take action towards what scares you and you begin to recognize that you’re way more courageous than you ever believed before.”
