Oncologists now use histotripsy, a new technology by HistoSonics, to combat liver cancer. This FDA-approved technique destroys tumors with high-energy sound waves, creating microbubbles in the tumor that collapse and break it apart. This non-invasive approach triggers immune responses that attack the tumors, potentially treating and identifying cancer recurrence early. The goal is to integrate histotripsy with immunotherapy or drug delivery systems for a comprehensive tumor cure. This groundbreaking development showcases the transformative power of histotripsy in cancer treatment 👩⚕️
Nathan Wynburn, an artist in the UK, made beautiful pictures using fruits and vegetables. The images showed famous places like Stonehenge and Avon Gorge. The artist worked with a chef to make the images look realistic. They used fresh organic food like strawberries, beetroot, and kale. It took them 48 hours to finish all four images. The images were meant to encourage people to support organic farming, and after they were done, they used the food to make recipes and gave any extra food to a charity, City Harvest—helping to deliver 143 meals to families in need across the country 👏
A Swedish woman named Karin has received a new prosthetic arm that combines bone, metal, and electrodes. It is seen as the future for prosthetics, providing more comfort and control. Karin lost her arm 20 years ago and waited for this new advancement. Engineers and surgeons from Sweden, Australia, and Italy collaborated to create the arm that connects to the nervous system through implanted electrodes attached to the bone with titanium. Karin's new arm has reduced her pain and improved her life. Dr. Paolo Sassu performed the surgery at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Sweden. Karin is happy with her new arm's positive impact on her life! 🙌

Did you know that women have a higher likelihood of experiencing depression and anxiety compared to men? So for this week, take a moment to reflect and consider the women in your life and define one way you can support their emotional needs, which can look like having a non-judgemental conversation, listening to understand, not responding, and being supportive by asking them what they need. And if you are a woman reading this, consider the people in your circle who you can ask for help supporting you through your mental health. Don't forget that sometimes asking for help might look like seeking professional and therapeutic support.
