An Off the Cuff episode with Danny LoPriore where he shares his European voyage, rehab experience, and more.
In 2013, the Lawrence siblings had a hard time going to school because their parents lost their home, and they had to move. But their parents didn't want this to stop them from getting an education, so they homeschooled them. The six oldest sisters worked hard and got their GEDs in 2019. They all went to Nassau Community College together, and now they are studying public health at SUNY Old Westbury. They will graduate in May. They also started a Master's program in public health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in August. After that, they plan to go to nursing school. What an accomplishment for this family! π©βπ
Heman Bekele, a ninth grader at W.T. Woodson High School in Annandale, won a science competition for creating a soap that helps treat Melanoma. He used simple ingredients to make a soap that helps protect skin cells. The soap only costs .50 cents per bar, and Heman wants to improve it over the next five years to help people who can't afford expensive medical treatments. Well done, Heman! π
Dr. Ali Alsamarah, a heart doctor at AdventHealth Ocala, received a call saying he might be a good match to donate bone marrow to a sick child. His decision was influenced by a friend who had cancer and was saved by a donor. Dr. Alsamarah wants to encourage more people to become donors and save lives. π
